Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by the Veggie Trade team to describe how we currently handle member data. It's not a legal certification — for advice specific to your situation, please consult a qualified attorney.
Information you give us
When you sign up we collect your email address and a display name. Optional profile fields (photo, bio, location, links) are shown to other members only if you add them. When you list an item we store the listing details, photos, and pricing. When you buy or trade we record the order, messages between buyer and seller, and reviews you write.
Information collected automatically
Like most sites, we collect basic technical information — IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed — to keep the service running securely and to understand how it's used. We do not sell this data.
How we use your information
- To operate the marketplace — accounts, listings, messages, orders, reviews.
- To process payments and prevent fraud.
- To send transactional notifications (order updates, messages, security alerts).
- To send optional email digests you can turn off any time in notification settings.
- To improve the product, debug issues, and keep the community safe.
Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us run Veggie Trade — including our hosting provider, database and authentication provider, email delivery provider, and payment processor (Stripe). Each is bound by their own privacy terms. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our members.
What other members see
Your display name, avatar, listings, posts, reviews, and public profile fields are visible to other members and to search engines. Your email address, phone number, and payment details are never shown publicly.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of the site may not work correctly if you do.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your profile, listings, and messages within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records (for example, tax or fraud investigations related to completed sales).
Your choices
You can edit or delete your profile, listings, and posts at any time from your dashboard. You can turn individual notification types on or off in notification settings. To request an export or deletion of your data, contact us.
Children
Veggie Trade is not intended for people under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any material changes on this page and, when appropriate, notify active members by email.
